WEB DOCUMENTS EVALUATION CRITERIA

Cornell University Library has offered its 5 Point Criteria in evaluating Web Pages. The following are:
  1. Accuracy - the author of the web gives a contact information and gives clear distinction between the his/her identity and the webmaster.
  2. Authority - the author (s) shows valid credentials and shows where the document is published (URL).
  3. Objectivity - the web document need to be evaluated from any presence of bias brought by commercialism, profit, and ideology.
  4. Currency - the web document has updated and active links and has relevant and current topics.
  5. Coverage - the page has links that enhances the topic, has accurate citations, and has a balance of images and text.
All these are essential guidelines that make a web page a valuable source of information.
